Lakes First Aid This was my second First Aid course organised through Watchtree Nature Reserve. The first by a different provider, whilst adequate, stuck to basics and didn't inspire my confidence.
Lakes First Aid was, thankfully, completely different. Delivered with boundless and infectious enthusiasm and containing the latest advice and techniques. The repeated practical sessions really helped to consolidate the learning.
The very useful hints and tips on how to access emergency information and make the most of what a mobile telephone can provide was eye opening. The defibrillator demonstration has made me feel much more confident in their use if needed.
Overall an excellent course to gain new knowledge and techniques and has made me feel significantly more confident that if I found someone in need of assistance I would help rather than stand by and hope that someone else would step in.

In the past i always felt that the course often got took over with that 1 person who was there to learn but though they had more experience than the tutor.
Thank you Ross, you made 7.5 hrs of learning joyful with a great atmosphere. i have left this course a lot more confident to deal with emergencies and also i am more aware of the different, not so common signs of illness.

I found the course informative, interesting, engaging and literally life saving.
Personally I feel that courses such as this should be taught in schools and updated annually giving us all a better understanding of first aid and may be easing the pressure on our valuable NHS.
I can’t rate this highly enough…An absolute 10 out of 10 from me.

First Aid Cumbria. It was a shame the technology wasn't working correctly, as it would have been great to get the learners all on the same page and able to see their compression rates etc. Having said that, the session was interactive for the learners, which suited the class.
Pete was extremely knowledgeable and could put a scenario to everything, making it real life for the learners. It was also nice that he took into account the sector the learners were working in and could resonate with them to an extent.
I feel the learners got a lot out of it, even those who I thought wouldn't engage as well, engaged really well, and answered questions when asked.

My previous course provider 4 years ago was OK but it was really stuffy in comparison, and I learnt a great deal more on this course not least because it was so engaging. The high-tech CPR dummies which included real time feedback have given me a great degree of confidence I could now deliver CPR to the prescribed standards.

Active Aid presents the course in a way that is simple and easy to understand and remember and there are no horror stories shared.
The course teacher was great at answering all our questions and encouraging our answers as well as correcting us if we needed it in a positive way.
I am hoping there will be an active aid course available in 3 years when I need to update my first aid.

During the years I haven’t had to deal with many large accidents at work, usually just cuts and bumps from the open farm aspect of the business. Many of the more serious accidents usually happen to myself or my boss due to the nature of the work we are involved in. Even though this is, it was good to refresh on more critical first aid such as CPR as my last experience of this was when my dad sadly had a heart attack on a family ski holiday in early 2020 and didn’t make it. It is reassuring to know that if the time ever came that I would need to use this skill I would be able to perform it correctly and the computer in the CPR dummy really came in useful to show this. I will hopefully be back in three years for another refresher!

She was obviously a total natural in her field of expertise with a wealth of knowledge and a really personable way of teaching, making the course 'fun' when appropriate but also emphasising the serious nature of the content. Her experience as a nurse shone through but wasn't intimidating and didn't try and scare us with gory stories which I have had in the past from previous trainers, she just shared good examples when appropriate.
From a practical point of view, all equipment was of a high standard and in good working order and the schedule was well organised and thought through with enough variety to keep us all engaged.
Most importantly, I have been left feeling really confident in my first aid knowledge and feel I would deal with a situation to the best of my ability should one arise.
I have been on a lot of first aid courses and Trish was by far the best trainer I have ever had. I would never have guessed she had been only teaching to 'non-medical' students for a few months (I think this is what she said!)

I came away far more confident in my abilities due to the way the course was taught. And because the right amount of information was given with ways to remember it, I don't think I will forget the training so when I have to use it, I will remember what I need to do.
